Substance Abuse

Substance abuse can best be defined as the excessive use or overindulgence of potentially addictive substances such as alcohol, drugs, sedatives, narcotics or prescription medication. This can include a wide range of substances, including inhalants, nicotine and steroids.

Substance abuse is a destructive behavior that affects the user and those around him or her.

Statistics show us that over half of the deaths that occur on America's highways are the direct result of drug and alcohol use. In the work place, substance abuse accounts for occupational accidents, lost time from work, the training and retraining of employees, as well as, injuries to others in the workplace. Drug related crime upsets families and entire neighborhoods and have lasting effects on children.
